Getting ready to host
Inglewood has changed a lot in the last decade, but the residential streets are still mostly what they've been for generations: 1920s through 1950s homes in neighborhoods like Morningside Park, Fairview Heights, Inglewood Knolls, Century Heights and Lockhaven, along with plenty of apartments. Backyards range from small patios to roomy lots with built-in islands, especially in Morningside Park and the hillier parts near Ladera Heights.
When the grill only comes out for big events, problems tend to show up at the worst possible moment. The igniter that clicks but won't catch, the burner that lights with a yellow flame because spiders moved in, the mouse nest in the cabinet. A cleaning a week or two before a big day takes care of all that.
Two weeks before you host
What we look at on a pre-event visit, and what you can check yourself.
- Every burner lights on the first try and burns blue
- Grates are clean and solid, not flaking rust
- The grease tray is empty and the drip path is clear
- Propane tank is full, or the natural gas connection is tight and leak free
- Side burners, rotisserie and grill lights all work
- There's a working fire extinguisher within reach
Mild weather, a few miles from the coast
Inglewood is only a few miles inland, so it gets more of the marine layer than the valleys do, with mild summers and damp mornings. That's easier on grills than the beach, but humidity still rusts cast iron grates and steel heat plates, and stainless near the beach-facing side of town can show light staining over time. A cover that breathes, and a cleaning once or twice a year, keeps that under control. Our guide on stainless steel grill care covers the basics.
If the grill only gets used a few times a year, the off months are when trouble starts. Webs, nests and leaves collect inside while it sits. Lifting the hood once a month and running it hot for ten minutes keeps most of that from settling in.

How far in advance should I book before an event?
A week or two is ideal. That leaves time to order any special parts if something needs replacing.
Can you work on an older built-in grill?
Yes. Many Inglewood islands have grills that are 15 to 20 years old, and most are worth repairing if parts are available.
Do you service commercial grills near the stadium?
Yes, we do commercial grill cleaning for restaurants and food businesses.
How much does a cleaning cost?
It depends on the grill's size, brand and condition. Call or text, or send a couple of photos, for a quote.
