Nothing goes down the storm drainNo harsh caustics
Oven cleaner strips the finish off stainless and leaves residue in the burners you then cook over. We don't use it.
Drop cloths down first
Your patio, pavers, planters and pool stay the way they were when we showed up.
Grease leaves with us
Storm drains in Los Angeles aren't treated before they reach the beach. Ours don't get a drop.
Grill service that comes to your patio
Surefire Grill Cleaning is a mobile grill service for Los Angeles, from Malibu and the Westside to the South Bay, Long Beach, East LA and the San Gabriel Valley. A tech shows up with degreasers, tools, drop cloths and a truck stocked with the parts that fail most often. Then the grill gets taken apart, cleaned or fixed, put back together and tested before we leave.
Our technicians are trained on the premium brands that fill LA outdoor kitchens, and they have the same parts access as Pro Grill, one of the larger grill service companies in Southern California. That matters more than it sounds. Half the battle on a repair is getting the right burner, valve or igniter for a grill that was installed fifteen years ago, and we usually can.
We're insured, we work 7 days a week, and we don't give you a vague answer about what's wrong. You'll know what we found, what we fixed and what we'd keep an eye on.
We bring the tools.
You bring the steaks.
Usually one visit.Send a couple of photos, pick a day, and the grill gets taken apart, fixed and tested right where it sits.

We schedule a visit
We pick a day that works for you, 7 days a week. If there's a gate, a building manager or tricky access, tell us and we'll plan for it.

The work happens in place
A tech sets up a protected work area and cleans, repairs or replaces right at the grill. Built-ins never leave the island.
Before.
After.
Real grills from real Los Angeles patios, cleaned and repaired by our techs.

What usually goes wrong with a grill
Most grills don't die suddenly. They slide. Grease drips past the heat plates and collects in the bottom of the firebox. The drip path clogs, so the grease pools and catches fire. Burner ports get crusted over, so one side of the grill runs cooler than the other. Igniter electrodes get coated in carbon and stop sparking. Somewhere along the way a spider builds a web in a burner tube, and the flame starts running yellow and lazy, or backs up toward the valve.
Near the coast, salt speeds all of this up. Inland, it's heat and heavy use. Either way, most of what people call a broken grill turns out to be a dirty one with a worn part or two. That's why a proper cleaning and a repair visit often end up being the same visit. If you want to see the usual suspects, our grill won't light and uneven heat pages walk through them.
Why the cleaning method matters
Plenty of grill cleaning is done with caustic oven cleaner and a pressure washer. It works, sort of. It also strips the finish off stainless, leaves residue in the burners that you then cook over, and blasts a slurry of grease across the patio and into the planters. In Los Angeles that slurry usually ends up in a storm drain, and storm drains here aren't treated before they reach the beach.
Our approach is slower on paper and better in practice. Parts come out and get degreased by hand. The firebox gets scraped and wiped down. Stainless is cleaned with the grain. Anything we rinse, we catch. More detail is on our eco-friendly grill cleaning page.

Questions,
answered.
Do you take built-in grills out of the island?
No. Built-ins are cleaned and repaired in place. The burners, grates and heat plates come out, but the grill body stays where it is.
How often should a grill be professionally cleaned?
Once a year for most homes. Twice a year if you grill often or live within a few miles of the ocean. Our cleaning frequency guide goes into it.
Can you fix my grill on the first visit?
Usually. We carry the parts that fail most often for the common premium brands. If something has to be ordered, we'll tell you what and come back to install it.
Are your cleaners safe around food, kids and pets?
Yes. We use biodegradable, non-toxic, food-safe degreasers and rinse everything well before the grill goes back together.
Do you work on smokers, pizza ovens and fire pits?
Yes. We service smokers, flat-top griddles, pizza ovens, gas fire pits, outdoor fireplaces and patio heaters.
Can you replace my old built-in without redoing the island?
In most cases. We measure the cutout and find a current grill that fits it, then install it. See replacing a grill in the same cutout.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the grill's size, brand, condition and what parts it needs. Call or text, or send a couple of photos through the quote form, and we'll give you a straight answer.
Do I need to be home?
Not always. If we can reach the grill and the gas shutoff, many customers leave a gate code and we send photos when we're done.
