Harbor air, harbor grime
Wilmington is a neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles, connected to the rest of the city by the narrow Harbor Gateway strip. It wraps around the inner part of the Port of Los Angeles, with San Pedro to the south, Carson to the north and the oil refineries to the east. Most homes are modest single-family houses, many from before World War II, plus apartments along Avalon Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway.
Being this close to the harbor has two effects on a grill. The first is moisture and salt. The marine layer is a regular visitor, and salt air reaches the whole neighborhood. Stainless parts stain, steel parts rust, and fasteners seize. The second is grime. Truck traffic, ships and industry leave a dark, gritty film on everything outdoors, and on a grill that film mixes with grease and becomes a sticky layer that holds moisture against the metal.
Big family cookouts
Weekend carne asada in the backyard, a birthday at Banning Park, a smoker going all afternoon: in Wilmington grills get used often and for long stretches. That means grease builds up fast. If you've noticed more flare-ups, uneven heat or a grill that takes longer to get hot, buildup is usually the reason.
A deep cleaning takes everything apart, degreases the cookbox, clears the burner ports and gets the grill back to heating evenly. While we're in there, we look for burners rusting through and hoses that need replacing.

Wilmington questions
Why does my grill get so dirty so fast?
Wilmington's air carries a lot of fine grit from the port and nearby industry. It sticks to grease and moisture on the grill. A cover helps, as long as you let the grill air out on dry days.
Do you also cover San Pedro and Harbor City?
Yes. We work across the harbor area, including San Pedro and Harbor City.
How often should I clean my grill here?
If you grill every weekend, twice a year. Otherwise, at least once a year.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the grill's size, condition and parts. Call or text, or send a couple of photos for a quote.
